turning off the seat belt chime !!!

Just for your info - I hate the d** door chimes. I just did this and now have peace of mind..

Seat belt chime is as follows:

1. Get in vehicle and close door.
2. Buckle up.
3. Turn key on
4. within 30 seconds(?) unbuckle and buckle three times within 10 seconds - the third buckle up leaving it buckled...
5. Turn key off, just 1 chime should be heard now when not driving safe.

note: when turning off the key a single chime should be heard meaning job well done! You fixed it again...

This does not disable the seatbelt light but does disable the chime

I'd like to add, do the buckle/unbuckle only the three times, not the at least three like the owners manual says to. I tried doing this eight or nine times without it working because if at least three is what it says, I'll do four or five to make sure. After cussing and scratching my head for a while, I did it only three times and it worked.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

That GD thing is obnoxious as hell!!!!! I followed the instructions in the owner's manual to the tee and even had a DCX Engineer try to deactivaite the chime with NO LUCK!!

phloop solved the problem.......there's a misprint in the manual!! It's "3 times" NOT "at least 3 times" as it states in the manual.

I got so annoyed I had visions of taking a shotgun to the instrument panel!!!

Kheeee-rist; peace and quiet at last!!!!

Thanks guys!!!

I was used to my Ford where all I had to do was press the buckle release button & the chime went away.

Now to disable that annoying dash lamp just locate the electrical connector under the drivers right side seat by the buckle and scotch-lock the two wires together...bingo it now thinks you are buckled up.

I uncliped mine and inserted a high tech piece of "tin foil", no "ding", no light. Plugged her back in gently, voila.

Here's another quick fix for the seatbelt chime; connect the front CENTER seatbelt blade into the driver's seatbelt recepticle.

On the 2006 models, you won't be able to do that but it works on '05's and prior.

The owners manual has all kinds of cool tricks you can do, like:
Disable the auto door locks
Enable 1 push to unlock all of the doors instead of 2 (1st the driver then 2nd the rest)
Enable/disable when the driver pulls the handle all the doors unlock

That's as far as I got....

When all else fails, RTFM.... (Read The F'n Manual)

I agree... I just pull the belt across me, buckle it up and no dings, no lights.
