TSB Service

If I take my truck in for a TSB i.e. the TIPM, will this be the only flash that they do? I really don't want any "quote" improvements to the ECM since my truck runs just fine. Just want/need that TSB done for the extra margin. Thanks

Thumbs up Selective TSB's

Once the StarScan is connected and reads the vehicles info, it communicates with D-C to determine available updates for what modules it has. The tech can then select all or pick individually. However some techs will pick all. In some cases you'll get an update you didn't want. It's just like buying a new car. You can go in armed with this knowledge and talk to the advisor about it first. If the advisor and tech know who their dealing with it will be a much smoother visit.

However, if this makes them rude or not helpful to your needs, then don't let them do the job. If they do the job and are unfriendly in any way, then I'm sure they'll have someone doing follow up calls on your visit. Don't blast this person out but be clear how dissappointed you are. Dealerships are graded not by D-C but by the consumer. If this under warranty, you will almost certainly get a survey from D-C and that is your oppurtunity to even a bad trip out. I have seen po'd customers come in with the blank survey and have a talk with the service manager/director in order to make sure he's listening. The customer normally walks away with a free oil change in exchange for their time. Anything to get you back in their doors.

All dealers especially Fve Star dealers recieve funding for doing good business, with the emphasis on the customers experience. That being said they should always do their best to take care of your requests. Then again, we are only human and it's not a perfect world, and I'm just yakking on now. There is one last weapon in your defense if you can't resolve issues at your dealer and that is the last page in the owners manual and the customer service line. No dealer wants to get a call referencing that line from corporate. Anyway, off my rant now, as in all situations know your rights. Or just ask on here. Somebody will know the answer.
