Trying to get bluetooth in my 06

I distinctly recall the moment while ordering my 06 - and the checkbox for bluetooth. What the heck will I ever need that for??????
Well, now that the state of WA has changed the law to zero cell phone use, I found it necessisary to get bluetooth installed. So off I went to Car Toys, supposedly on of our better car audio places. I had read on here that the Pioneer was a good replacement unit, and sure enough, they had the one that fit all my requirements (steering wheel controls, XM, bluetooth, CD). And apparently, its the ONLY one they carry that meets all of those requirements. One week later, and I absolutely hate this unit. The buttons are so small, i have no idea what I'm doing with it. That toggle is virtually impossible to operate correctly while driving. I have to use the remote to do anything with it, and it doesn't get any AM reception.
So, I am considering going back to them to see what my options are. What I'm curious about is can I go to Dodge and order a factory deck with bluetooth, and have Cartoys install it, and end up with functioning bluetooth? I've come to appreciate the simplicity of the factory system - I listen mostly to NASCAR radio, local news stations, etc. So I'm NOT out for the best booming system.
Just an FYI on converting to aftermarket. I had read on here how cheap the aftermarket radios were, and that they are. It was 250 for my Pioneer. BUT...you have to buy all these adapters for every optional item you put in (steering controls, XM, bluetooth,). Total in parts was an additional 300 bucks (rounded off). I checked crutchfield, and their price was only about 10% less - not worth it for me.

You can install the factory uconnect using the factory radio and uconnect mirror plus a uconnect module. If you are interested i will give you a link to a web site that sells all the parts and a wiring harrness. Its plug and play.

That would be great. If you could post it here, or pm me with it, I'd greatly appreciate that.

I found these two kits at "Mopar Supercenter.com"

Not sure what the difference is between the two.

A quick comment: I have the factory uconnect in my truck. I like it, better than the Sony bluetooth head unit in my Passat. But, the Passat is so old that you can only install an aftermarket radio.

I just placed my order with the MoparSupercenter. If anyone else is considering doing this, you'd better get on it. They only have a couple of the custom harness's left, and they wont be doing anymore of them.

It was the $667 version that I needed for my '06 (it has the auto dim mirrror).

Has anyone removed the center bezel on their trucks? I was just looking at the process in my service manual, and it says to use a "trim stick" or equivelent to disengage the retainer clips. Not sure what this is, and how those clips engage, but I dont want to go prying on it to get it off - I know I'll break something!

I just did this because I sent my cluster out for repair and the center bezel had to be removed in order to remove the cluster bezel.

First there are two screws hidden on the bottom of the center bezel behind the trim piece that is directly under the center bezel. Depending on whether you are automatic or manual trans you will have to remove other pieces to get to the trim piece below the center bezel. When you finally get to the piece below the center bezel and remove the screws for it you will need to yank it down to disengage it and get it out. Then you have easy access to the 2 screws on the bottom of the center bezel. They screw in from the bottom and point up.

After the two screws for the center bezel are out start prying with a wide thin flat tool around the left lower corner it won't break and it will eventually pull out enough to get under it better. I used two plastic handled pry bars with blades about 5/8 inch and 3/4 inch wide and did no damage. When that corner is about 1/2 disengaged from the clips and you can get the tool further under the bezel work your way around the bottom and right side and top. Once you have gone around once and loostened it a little you can get your fingers in it better and with the tools get it off all the way. It will come clear of the stereo but the power outlets and A/C control wires will stay attached and come with the switches on the bezel. There is enough wire length to get it pretty far out. Like I said once you get it out a little you can get behind it much better and sense where the clips are. It can be very tight, mine is. I took two days because I was sure I missed screws and kept asking on this board. But the two on the bottom are it. It may flex a little but it will come out. Good luck!

Thanks for the info.
So in the picture, they show what look to be the two screws you mentioned - identified as "2". they did no however mention the need to remove them.

That sounds about right. I had to add the stuff for steering wheel controls and Sirius which added another 200 or so to the tab.

Yes those are the ones that must be removed.
