Trucks finally arrived!

well my trucks have finally arrived.
went down tonight to look them over.
everything looks great but i have a question.
when the trucks are shipped from the factory do they put
protective plastic covers over the aluminum wheels
during shipping? i ordered the chrome-clad forged wheel.
looking at them in the dark something just didn't seem right.
what do you guys think?

When you say trucks, do you mean more than one!!! If they just got off the truck and havn't been washed, they could have a film of dust/dirt on them. I don't think that ma mopar puts a protective film on the wheels.

They ship new vehicles with a spray coating on the exterior, which they wash off before you receive it.

Strangely enough the Laramies come standard with steel wheels. I never understood that I always thought the aluminum wheels looked so much better.

you are right. i don't know what is underneath the exterior chrome whether it is steel or some other alloy. the rims seem to be two pieces. i don't understand it either. they look OK but a true alloy has a better look.

as for the rest of the truck i am very impressed. i have been a GMC guy for about 13 years. never ever considered a Dodge until my needs changed and i needed a larger cab. overall the truck feels very solid. rides great and has terrific power. i really like the stereo/nav and the engine brake. the back seat is the best in the business. other than brand loyalty i don't have a reason for never checking out the products that Dodge offered.

as for my dealer experience. it started great, fell into the toilet, and then balanced out to be a positive experience. hopefully it will stay positive and i will be a Dodge man for decades to come.

I'll post some pics soon if the weather cooperates.

nothing better than a truck with "two" axles and an inline cummins diesel engine!.

Since you ordered two I'm guessing this is for a business. Make sure to check into "Business Link" while you're at the dealership. It's free and will give you priority service ahead of the general public and a discount too! Another thing about business link and Five Star dealers, I believe and you'll have to verify this, but if they have to give you a loaner vehicle while yours is being repaired under the first 36k I think they have to give you the same type of vehicle. This is important if you need a truck to operate your business. While you're there, clarify your warranty and rental coverage, no need for surprises later.

This is true, I am a business link customer and they are "susposed" to do this, you have to remind them and if they are not a business link dealer I do not know if they have to honor it. I have never had them give me a loaner that was equal or greater than my truck, not sure why, guess they thought that I did not need it

As I understand it, to get a like vehicle you had to buy new from them, they have to be a business link dealer and it's only good for the first 36k.

when I got my laramie, it came with forged aluminum/ chrome clad wheels. What it really was was an aluminum wheel with a chrome-covered plastic shell attached to it. Needless to say, them things were gone in a heart-beat. It was kind of cheezy lookin'.

Not to mention hard to clean. Brake dust really sticks to them for some reason. Never had to spend so much time cleaning my wheels. When I picked up the truck I didn't realize they had real forged wheels like my 05, or I would have had them changed also. I thought that was their substitute for the forged wheels. Sad you buy a top of the line truck and end up with "fake" forged wheels.

My window sticker said forged wheels so I'm pretty sure I've got the good ones. I think they look great and am happy with them anyways.

My dealer was more than happy to swap out the standard polished forged alloy wheels from an SLT with my chrome clad alloys off my Laramie.

I'd seen enough problems with chrome clad steel wheels to know I'd better ditch'em fast.
