I do the redneck cardboard trick too. i put mine between the intercooler and radiator so the intercooler gets the cold air. i have to cut a 18" square hole in mine or she gets too warm.

OK, my Mopar winter front just arrived

I always envisioned that it fit between the rad and intercooler - but it appears to go over the whole deal, transmission exchanger, etc - right against the forward most exchanger, with the adjustable baffles in the center.

Although we want to limit icy air to the radiator - I'm assuming it's no problem that all the exchangers are blocked? I guess Mopar would not produce it if it were a problem -

Am I seeing this right?

Won't hurt anything, I'd start with the center open, and experiment with it in order to obtain the desired temps.

"I don't know how long the electric motor could run uner those conditions and I wouldn't want to experiment. "

Didn't think there was an electric motor on the fan?

Since this is a third gen thread I should point out that 3rd gen fans are regular thread.

I got screwed up big time on this when changing my engine and ended up breaking my fan blade.

I wondered about that when I stuck my cardboard in and noticed that I have a belt-driven fan. Must be a different year?

I just cut out a 26"x32" section of peg board (1/8" holes on 1" centers) with a 6" x 6" hole centered 14" from the top - roughly inline with the fan clutch and slid it down right in front of the radiator. I laced some 0.080" weed-eater line thru the 2nd row of holes at the top and around the cable that fastens to the top of the radiator. The bottom rests on the two cooler lines. Fairly quick and there will always be some air passing thru. I'll make another one and water-proof it for later.
I'll have to try this for my d/d, too.

I opted to purchase the Dodge winter front when the deal surfaced in front of me. If it wasn't a deal, I'd probably be doing the cardboard thing.
Where did you get your winter front from?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What he said.

They may very not not "make" one for an '02 specifically, but I could have probably made it work on my '98 without too much stress - They didn't change too much in those 4 years. Worth checking out.
