Trailer Connector Broke
Trailer Connector Broke
Hey guys, on my 06 2500 I have a Recon Light bar on the back, it is rarely unplugged from my truck's trailer plug because I rarely haul a trailer. Well, the other day I had to, I noticed that the plugs were corroded pretty badly, and when I finally got them unplugged from one another on of the prongs broke. So needless to say, I now have no trailer lights or a working light bar now. What is the easiest fix?
Thanks!

You could do a replacement from dodge or go with this set-up and have a 4 way on the bumper too:

Either option will be plug and play w/ no splicing of wires..
use some die-electric grease when you plug things in next time..

you can buy a new plug from your local parts store and splice it in.. If you have a 4 way under the bumper you could get a 4-way plug and harness and tie it into the Recon Light bar.. saving your 7 way for trailers..
Have you tried Recon to see if they do a replacement harness?

Replacing the truck's socket is easy, as there is a connector on the back side to remove it.
As far as splicing the other piece, I'd recommend using solder and heat shrink tubing. Takes a little extra time, but it will never pull apart or corrode.
Dielectric grease is great stuff.
