I am considering trading my 03 HO auto SLT 4x4 SWB SRW 48RE for an 04 (305 HO) SLT 2wd DRW 6spd. Both trucks are equiped on the inside the same. Both have 373 rears. My truck has 21K miles and the dually is new of course. The trade difference is around 5000.00$ Good, bad, or so so deal? I have owned both auto and 5 & 6 spd Ram CTD's since 98. I Just bought a 44 ft. Gooseneck race trailer and have not installed my GN hitch yet and either need to upgrade the auto tranny to put the HO's power to the ground and keep my truck or get the 6spd and row gears again. I can do the ATS stage 3 tranny mods for around 2000.00$. I would like feedback and opinions please on both set ups and the trade deal. Thanks in advance.

 

I did something very simular .......03' 3500 SRW SWB auto (10500 miles) for an equelly loaded DRW 04' 6 speed. It boiled down to an $4200 difference. Both trucks were 4X4 however. I'd say to have them throw in a exh. brake with the 6 speed & walk away smiling!

That is a BIG trailer. You definitely need the dually. Not sure if you buying on off the lot but 4.10s might be in order depending on the trailer weight.

ARE YOU CRAZY?!! A 44-foot trailer with a SWB SRW truck??!! That's insane to even consider!! You need something long, low, and wide to safely haul that much trailer. My money would be on the dually for sure.
