Track bar bushings? End links?

Has anyone ordered end links or track bar bushings from rock auto? I can't seem to figure out the right part numbers.

Also, have any of you changed the track bar bushings yourselves? I'm assuming that I could get away with a typical ball joint style press to do them. Is that correct?

What about the control arm bushings? How hard is that to do?

I've got to find the clunking in my front end, but I don't have a lot of funds for throwing parts at it.

I can almost guarantee your "clunking" is coming from the worn track bar bushing and thin metal wearing on the track bar mount. It was driving me insane.

Mike with Lazarsmith ( http://www.lazarsmith.com/SSSSS.html ) fixed me up with zero deflection track bar bushings and his ultimate track bar hardware. That fixed it! No more popping, clunking etc. Tight!

My 2 cents worth. I had a clunking in the front end while driving straight and hitting small bumps. Replaced the track bar bushings, clunk still there. Replaced the sway bar bushings/mounts, clunk is gone, no noise. Both sway and track bar bushings were from Mike at Lazarsmith. What Mike told me was that if the noise is a popping noise at slow speed turns it is usually the track bar, if heard when going straight it isn't the track bar.

The sway bar bushings are a lot cheaper to start with.

Mine is al all speeds. I cannot see the track bar moving when I have my wife get in and turn the wheel back and forth. I'm leaning toward the sway bar links, but would prefer the cheaper method. I think I'll disconnect the links and see what happens. If it goes away I'll buy links. If it's still there I would guess track bar.

My Sway Bar end links were bent and I replaced them with the links from Thuren. Took alot of the front end sway out of the truck. Now I'm still getting some clunking and after reading the above I'm guessing that the trackbar bushings are the cause.

I ordered some endlinks from Don also because mine where shot. A few days later I had a rattle/clunking in the front end. Don and I narrowed it down to some bad heim joints so he sent me new ones. Guess what, its doing it again!

I think by nature the heim joints will or can produce a clunking noise, but they will hold up alot better than the stock rubber sway bar end links.

I know my trucks stock end links were completely shot at 67,000 miles.

I also am running Thuren's extended links.
