TPS Sensor Gone Bad?

Hi all

I have a 2004 2wd 3500 Dually Quad Cab with 249587 Km on it. I have been getting codes P 2121 and P 2122 which are the TPS sensor. I have tried resetting the sensor which works for about an hour then it goes back to getting a dead petal while driving, then back to life, then dead again. This all started about 2 weeks ago when I turned my Smarty down due to the amount of snow on the road. The only place I can get a new TPS is from Dearlership and they want just under $900 Can.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so what was the final resolution.

Thanks

Shawn

check the connections, moisture or corrosion on the connectors will cause your symtoms.
otherwise get your digital ohm meter out. disconnect the tps. and connect it to the meter. run the throttle back and forth. watch the meter to see if the readings are smooth. if they jump around the sensor is bad.

I was towing the trailer on our last trip and went to pass someone, felt a bit of a stutter (never done this before) and got a P2121 code. I was driving a very wet logging road not long before (one of my horns is still not working) so I'm wondering if the TPS got wet?
It's been fine ever since, I know nothing about the tps, don't even know where it is!

That makes two of us. I have read and read about the APPS and TPS on all the 2nd Gens and even the 03's, but I can't seem to find any info on the later models as far as location, fixes, and how to reset. Something about key on, pedal down to floor 3 times and on the up motion, go slow. Then key off. That is all I know. I'm with ya.

The cycle for resetting is clear codes, turn key off, disconnect batteries for 15-20min (or disconnect and touch + to -). Reconnet batteries, key on, SLOWLY push throttle to floor and let back up. Key off.
This works for the old 03-04 style APPS, just did it on a buddies truck, but if the APPS is actually going bad, it will keep malfunctioning every time it sends an incorrect voltage to the ECM.
Try getting a new one from a Cummins dealer. A friend just bought a new APPS for $300 I believe (waaay less than $900 anyway). Easy to swap out.
On the early CR's, it's the entire assembly that the throttle cable hooks to.
