It should only be an automatic transmission application.

So its in all 3rd gen autos? Is it wise to bypass it when not towing. How?

It defuels to provide a smoother shift and not rip apart the tranny. Take out the TM and it's almost like putting in a shift kit. However, when you take the stress off of the "soft" parts in the tranny, the hard parts begin to take on that stress. If you race, that's one thing, but just for towing I'd leave it alone. Your tranny will probably last longer and the comfort factor will be greater. You probably won't notice much of a performance gain any way.

It's a PCM/ECM/TCM (depending on the type of vehicle) reprogram.

Can the dealer do it? Would they do it? I might have to go grab the DRB and look for menu options pertaining to this, as I'm sure it would be a wild wide with 4hi launches (that are VERY torque managed).

I wouldn't begin to know how to remove TM. I only semi-know the theory behind it.

When I had my Z71, I bought a Wester's PCM from Wester's Garage in Canada and it had a performance program. The top speed limiter was removed as well as torque management. There were also differences in fuel trim numbers over stock.

I cannot remember exactly, but I think Hypertech and Predator programmers could remove the torque management also. I am not sure about Cummins programmers.

on the 4.7L and 5.7L rams, you unplug a wire from the TCM. is it not that way on the diesels as well or is it more complicated?

I don't really think there is much of a market for it. With a chip on a diesel, you get real hp and tq numbers, and TM is a non-issue. With gassers, there is only so much a chip will do (15-35hp maybe), so there is a market for all of the extras like tranny shift reprogram and TM deletion.

But TM is still there on the 05's. Try launching in 4hi brake torqueing. It limits it to 20psi of boost, and when you let off the brake it kinda bogs, but the rpm's don't drop, then takes off like a rocket.

I have the racer's anti defueler from BD and you do notice a big change and I hear it's good for 2-3tenths of a second in the 1/4 mile......but I also hear that 4wd boosted launches will break your input shaft, outputshaft, and or flex plate, so be carefull
when you think about getting rid
of torque manangment!!!!
