tonneau cover?
tonneau cover?
I am looking for a tonneau cover for our 05 shortbox. Does anybody have any pictures of their own to show? What kind you you guys like? What is a good website to find some. I am wanting just a low profile tonneau of some sort. Thanks
I am another happy Undercover owner. Had mine a year anda half now, looks just like it did day one. I have had a couple of Snuglid XLs, they were nice, but not as functional and cost twice as much.

Soft Tonneau here
I have the truxedo lo-pro tonneau cover and It is very nice. I looked at hard covers but I like the fact that I can roll it back in 5 seconds. It doesn't provide the same security but I do like the out of site out of mind feature!
Pretty happy with my Extang Full-Tilt. Tip it up, roll it up, take it off. Very quick and easy. About $300 if memory serves. http://www.extang.com/
Ditto the Undercover
Got mine installed in fall of 2005 for $550 and change at the local RanchHand outlet here. Very Strong, have used it (truck backed up partly in garage) to access my house's roof to put up Christmas lights and do other other work on roof. Me and a couple of my friends 450 to 500 pounds on it no problem and no scrapes, scuffs or other damage to it. Wouldn't risk doing that with a painted cover...

yup like the soft ones. role up and out of the way. cannot tell you how many times I have roled mine up in the last 3 plus years. And yes looks as almost as good as new. that is my take on it.
I've had about every type of cover made. I've had fiberglass hinged in the center(front to back) and hinged behind the cab. The soft covers with snaps are a pain, I've burned fingers in the summer and had to wait until it warmed up so I could put it back on.
We've been running Access covers for the last few years and been very happy. Easy to roll up, no matter what the temperature. And they stay on, even at 120 mph, which is all my truck will do. A friend with a Lightning, put one on and it stayed there, cruising as fast as 140.

Hard folding tonneau cover is the way to go. I works with the 5vr and I can still remove it to use the bed when needed. Besides it gives me a lockable trunk to store stuf.
Don't forget to add the power locking tailgate.

i have the pace edwards retractable cover. I love it cause it makes it pretty easy to put stuff in your bed that is oversized which a solid cover would have problems closing on. It also locks when needed. It is also superior to the soft covers in that it can't be cut because of the reinforced slats that make up the cover. Very nice product, all in all.
I did the Pace Edward Jack Rabbit. Got it on-line from www.autoanything.com for about $850. Like it with the stops every 12 inches. Also lockable. I heard the Bak roll up was not a good. Instructions for install were a bit hokey, but you can figure it out. Build quality is decent but it is what you pay for. If you really need a rock solid one go for the more expensive metal one. That is pretty nice. I just didn't want to pay so much.
