Tire size?
Tire size?
Hey all,
Got a question(s), want to get some new BFG All Terrain TA KO's for my '03 Dodge 3500 SRW LWB, and am trying to decide between 315's and 285's. I have heard a lot of different things about wether the 315's will fit. I want to leave the suspension totally stock, same stock rims, but don't want to deal with any rubbing issues. Does any one have 315's on stock suspension? If so got any pictures? Any rubbing problems? Any problems with the stock rim width? I Want to fill out the wheel wells, but don't want the over size tire look. Thanks for any input.

just use the search button .. you'll find tons of posts regarding bgf 315's , i have them and love them , and my suspension and wheels are totally stock .. have a look at my pics and you'll see !! they rub only at full left turn !! not a big deal !!
good luck

Ditto w/Swansong. See my reader's rig pics for 315's on Hummer H2 wheels. Only rub when hitting speed dips at about 25 mph. Power is still good even with the 3.73 gears. I spent a lot of $ on 285's and wasn't really happy until I had the 315's. The 315's also softenened up the ride some, too.
A buddy has 315 BFG ATs w/stock alloy's and stock suspension. He's never had a rub or a problem. He loves 'em. I think they look awesome. I was thinking about 295/70/17 Nitto Terra Grappelers, but I'm now leaning pretty hard towards the 315 BFG ATs.

I'm thinking about the Nitto's too. I currently have the 315's on H2 wheels. They are great tires, but for mostly highway it seems a shame to wear them out on the road. And there is a mileage penalty of about 1.5 mpg with the 315's over the stock 265's. But off road the 315's are great. The 295 Nitto's seem like a good compromize. If I try a set it will be on the H2 wheels.

Thanks for the input guys. One more question, I have been hearing about the "death wobble" and was wondering if it has anything to do with tire size, or is it just because of the tire size, leveling kit combo? Any one with 315's(no level kit) have any wobble problems?

I have the 315's and the 2" spacers and have not had any problems.
I actually like the ride better with the 315's than the 235's.
A little softer ride with the extra sidewall height!
I know I won't get the milaege out of the 315's that I would from the 235's
due to having them mounted on the factory skinny wheels.
But I think the LOOKS factor makes up for it!

For you guys w/ no rubbing, do you do any 4 wheeling? I'd think if the tires are close, you'd be rubbing on the rough stuff.

I have BFG 315 AT's and had them mounted on stock rims initially. Tight turning, 4 wheeling caused them to rub pretty bad. I went with the 2" leveling kit and AR Python wheels - could NOT go back to stock. This truck looks too good leveled w/ 315's, after market wheels, fender flares and other bling.
I put a set of H2/315s on my 02 for a day, rubbed on full turn, stuck out of the wells a little too much for me.
I'm going to buy a set of 285s for the H2s as soon as I find a home for the like new 315s.
