Tire "Scrubbing"???
Tire "Scrubbing"???
Recently purchase a 2005 RAM3500 w/o Duallies. Truck has 70K miles and the Dunlops on the truck are obviously not originals... The rear tires have the outside edge worn while the remainder of the tire looks good, fronts are good all the way across. Had the front end aligned, and the dealer said it was off a touch, but not enough to tear up tires. My suspicions are 1) Rears were originally on front and got scrubbed due to lots of curves. Or 2) they put a set of used tires on the truck when they sold it. Stock size tires.
Any ideas????

Sounds like they rotated the tires before they sold it. Outside edges being worn down is a good sign of out of alignment as the 03 in my sig had that same problem. If they are that worn, they might have got it aligned before you bought it, and is the reason why it wasn't out of alignment when you went to have it checked.
Bottom line, just check them periodically and don't turn hard and fast, they'll last.

That was one of my guesses.... I've read a couple inputs in various articles about "scrubbing" on the tires, and since someone put 70K miles on this puppy hauling "something" in Arkansas in 18 months... I was a bit suspicious.
