Tin Cans!

I can't believe how $@#&*!% flimsy these new trucks keep getting. I was headed out to train the dogs yesterday and I told my clients dog to load. Well he usually clears the tailgate with no problem but yesterday both of his knees hit the top of the tailgate. You guessed It, I have two nice little dents right on the top of my tailgate. I ordered a stainless cap for the tailgate to cover the dents so I don't get edit everytime I see them but I can't believe how easy it dented.

I backed into my boat trailer's tongue. It hit the underside of my truck on the drivers side. You can't see where it hit the truck, but you can definately see where it caused the rear wheel well on the drivers side to buckle in. I have seen this happen many times on trucks. I didnt even hit it that hard and it is dented in. Luckily it isnt too bad, but its still a dent. Oh well, just a truck.

I had an axle in the back of mine (from a Suzuki Sidekick). It rolled around and dented the wheel well. My bed is also lined pretty thick and it still dented. Needless to say I was a little ticked.

How come I hear stories on this site of these trucks getting in accidents and having hardly any damage and yet we also hear stories like this?

Just don't add up.

Their probley hitting the front of the truck were that huge chunk of metal lies. That alone is a solid barrier.

But about the tin can comment I'd have to agree.

The blue truck in my sig was used to clear lumber. The bed on it is absolutly destroyed. Inside the bed looks like waves from the wood bouncing around, it's got multiple dents around the rails and on the rear panel(next to the exaust pipe) there is a massive indentation where a tire got pushed into it(long story). We're a little late to be investing in a bed liner now.

I put the tailgate cap on mine so haven't had a problem like that yet but I do notice that my paint gets scratched real easy.

This is the American way, not unique to the Dodges. The difference in sheet metal on the 71 Nova and the 03 Yuke is amazing. I had a 77 F250 that I used to lay on the hood. Heck, I stood on the roof to cut limbs. Would not dare try that on a newer vehicle.

Its a tailgate, its flat sheetmetal, not 1/4" steel plate...

Would you rather your truck weigh 6500lbs or 12,000lbs(even that is cutting it short)

The only thing you can do is grin and bear dents like those, theyre going to happen, thats part of having a truck and actually using it

If you ever run your truck through an automatic carwash with the spinning side brushes you better unscrew the antenna! I know to do this from working at a carwash many many years ago. I let a detail shop run it through and they left it on. Well the brushes bend the antenna outward and that nice little point on the bottom of the base dented the fender! Very disturbing to see on a 3 week old truck. @#%$#%#$%#$%$

heck it is all of the newser cars.. I have a 91 S-10 and the hood is dented from the air blowers at the carwash.. They blew down and pushed the hood skin against the hood frame... Wala Nice dent...

Ever tried drying the roof.... Geeez just the garden hose pushes that down...

I had my 4-wheeler in the back of my truck straped down and pushed all the way forward. I didnt drive it forward i just pushed it forward and now i have a nice dent on the front of my bed just below the rear window. That was just pressure from when i hit my brakes and the 4-wheeler pushed up agaist the bed there. I was ticked it dented so easy on a 1 month old truck. I also had Line-x in there.

I just figured I would vent! I realize this is not just Dodges but all new trucks and cars. It just makes me sick they cost so much and are so flimsy.

These are also part of the CRUMPLE ZONES. So, they cannot be hard, thick and rigid like the old sheetmetal. The panels on our cars are designed to crumple upon impact which makes them inherently weaker.

they may look funny, but plastic bedliners sure do save the bed when it coems top denting....my dad always has them in hsi work trucks. and when he pulls it out to put in the next truck, the only thing wrong with the bed is were the plastic rubbed on the paint....no dents, nothing! i hate them but if actually used my truck as a wrok truck i would definately have one
