Thinking about a new 05

I was thinking about getting an 05 club cab diesel and even went so far as calling the dealer to see what kinda jive they would give me..

Besically it was 30,000 thousand bucks for a Club Cab SLT 6 speed Diesel short bed and 540.00 montly up to 600.00 montly depending on credit and mine is great so 540.00 would be my hope I guess.

Thinking of traiding my 95 in for this, I owe about 5k on it still (bought used)

what should I expect to get out of a 1995 in decent shape, has a ding on the tail gate and the rear bumper got pushed in a bit and hit the bed and put a small ding there.. the rest is good and the truck looks sharp with 35" rubber and lighted running boards and billet alum grill and it has a matching topper shell with tinted windows.

The interior is good except the drivers seat is getting thread bare from dragging my *** over it getting out of the truck. Its an auto with fresh tranny built very heavy duty with pressure and steel basket and HD brazed torque conv.

the engine leaks oil though, front main seal and I think the rear main also.. leaks about 2qts ever oil change (6k mile oil change) the engine has 210K miles on it.

Im not quite sold on the idea of paying 30k for a new rig when my 95 does drive good, but it's getting high milage and I don't like working on it and I've been doing that alot it seems lately.

guess my next call will be the insurance company to see if there is a huge jump in rates for a new rig.

oh and are the 05 models any good? lol

First off if i were you i'd sell it myself, Dealers all ways screw you on trade ins. either way check the value of the truck at kbb.com or nadaguides.com trade in and private party values.I have a loaded 05 3500 drw on order and i think the new HD rams are doing great my friend has an 04.5 auto and tows a 17,500# GN and has been great no problems unlike my 02 ram 1500. second don't buy over invoice buy only at invoice and if i were you i wouldn't get a 6 speed = lower resale value at least in my area. You can find new invoice pricing and built it to your specs at the websites mentioned above and edmunds.com or meltonsales.com. Also you can better intrest rates at other places doesn't have to be with DCfinancial, at the dealer i'm buying they deal with various fianancing co. Goodluck and sorry for the long post

Just bought a new 2005 3500, DRW, 6 speed, 4x4, nicely equiped. I got a fair deal with trade on my 99. $ 17,000.00 difference plus my 99. Felt that it was a good deal for me. If you live in mountainous areas and plan on towing heavy in the mountains an exhaust brake would be nice and the 6 speed would work better in that environment. Happy hunting and dealing. It's good to have a difference that you would be willing to pay figured out ahaed of time and don't be afraid to walk out on the deal if it is not close to where you need it to be.
