Teflon Tape..proper amount

hey there! I installed my GDP 2 micron big line kit and have a tiny bit of diesel seepage and need to re do the teflon tape on the outlet side. I am using the yellow kind, diesel fuel rated. How many threads do you cover with it? do you put a single layer of tape on or is it ok to put a couple layers before re tightening? Thanks!

u need to do a minimum of 2 wraps, id go at least 3/8" if u go higher it doesnt matter. i usually go 3 times around any less u will leak, any more u might crack a brass fitting.

I had to have a #5 injector replaced on my truck the week before installing the GDP kit. That was my reason for installing it. I was and still am running a 5 micron Baldwin in the stock canister. I thought that was enough. Bosch recommends a 3 micron filtration I believe. Dodge settled with them on 7 microns. I use a fleetguard Fuel filter ( Made by cummins). The dealer that put in the new injector gave me their BLESSING to use 2 micron filtration... Don't see how they can claim a warranty issue when you have BETTER filtration. Chevy and I believe ford already use 2 micron from the factory... Hope that helps! I know CTD owners that have Oil by pass systems AND the GDP kit who's dealers say is fine.

The advice I got, forget from who, was to go with the teflon paste - took a bit to find it, but worked great!

Any decent hardware or plumbing store will have several kinds of the teflon paste.

For the tape, I normally put 3-4 wraps

I also have a GDP set up but is not leaking through the AN and NPT fitting buth through the filter thread itself. I've tighten it so tight with a strap wrench that I dented the filter housing. How do I stop it from leaking? Also, where do you get the yellow teflon for diesel fuel?

Make VERY sure you leave 1 or 2 threads clear of tape, you don't want any tape going down stream.

Pressure Washers use diesel/kerosene and I use plain white teflon in 3 wraps on all the fittings and have never had a problem with it.

Be advised though that there are good teflon tapes and CRAPPY teflon tape. The crappy stuff is stringy.

We use the high-temp high-pressure yellow tape.
