Tailgate replacement help (mine stolen)

My tailgate was stolen and I'm trying to find a good replacement. Does anyone know of an online resource to order the entire assembly? I would like something as close as possible to an oem replacement. I've seen several aftermarket gates but don't know what's good or bad, thanks

I have not need this place but I still keep the site handy just in case. They could pull one from their yard or they do have an aftermarket phone line. Worth a try. http://midwayauto.com/

What color is your truck, I pulled mine off to put on a tire-gate so I could have a full size spare. Mine is white and in perfect condition.

Some of the non OEM ones are dangerously thin have been reported to collapse from just standing or bouncing in the center of them. Can you make an insurance claim for a new OEM one?

Thanks all for the replies. Mine is a white 2003 3500 4x4 diesel. I did file a claim and have already received a check for a replacement.

mkinla, thank you for the offer. I will get back to you on that if I need it. Another member sent me a pm with a gate for sale. Where are you located so I can try to figure shipping cost. I'm zip code 85374 surprise, az.

From his name and license plate, I would guess Louisiana.

But does anybody in California like Ron Paul??

With the 7 digits on the plate it could be CA and not LA

Thanks everyone for the info and offers. I found a good used tailgate off of an '07 1500 being parted out. It was in great shape and the price was right.

When you get your new gate take and put a hose clamp around the the hinge socket on the side with the slot in it , passanager side on my 03. Tighten it on, gate will work like normal but then they have to carry a screw driver to get it off so its not a quick open, unhook 2 cables and run deal.

Thanks, Ive seen some pics of the hose clamp setup. I'm planning to do that asap. Having the tailgate stolen is a real PIA. Would hate to have that happen again. I'm also looking at some of the locking latch replacement stuff.
