Tail Light Assembly removal

My owner's manual states to remove the two screws and pull the assembly straight out. Well, I remove the screws, and pull pretty darn hard, and the assembly does not come out. Something else is holding it, what is it?

Thanks

Straight out is not straight back..

The light assembly needs to pivot out a bit then pull straight out from there..

^^^ This

I thought that same thing when I had to replace a bulb. After a little twisting as I pulled, it came right out. There are a couple posts with a ball end on them that fit into a rubber hole and that is why it is hard to remove. Get a good grip and pull, you'll be fine.

They are always hard the first time they are pulled out. After that they sometimes just fall out once you pull the screws....

Thanks for the replies. I did notice that with the screws removed, the assembly would swing out as if on hinges, but I was following the excellent instructions in the manual, which said to pull straight out in order to avoid breaking the alignment pins.

I'll give it another try when I get home this evening.

Those pins have a tyt(Sorry mods, I didn't mean to curse) on the end that go into a rubber hole. It's a tight fit and that's why it is hard to pull the assembly out. There is no hinge...

Removing the Tail light Assembly:
1. Pop the hood and use the pliers to disconnect the negative battery (-) cable
2. Fully open the tailgate. Locate the 2 torx screws on each side of the bed.
3. Use the torx screwdriver to remove the screws. Keep them in a safe place for later installation.
4. Pull the tail light assembly
