I am in need of a tach signal for a 2004 cummins. I know that it is not the same as the 2003.

 

On pcm left side of engine under intake manifold. I removed left front tire and inner fender shield to get to it. There are two connectors on PCM, the wire you need is in the connector on the left. I had to remove one 10mm bolt up about a foot on the harness to get enough slack to solder a wire to the tach wire. My diagram says orange plug pin 34. I thought it was the third row down and forth wire from the left, blue with a grey tracer. Good luck

 

Thanx for the input on the tach wire I will give that a try.

 

gatf4, thanxs once again for that tip on the tach wire it was PERFECT.No more problems with that starter over or under cranking!

 

Glad it worked out for you. I love my remote start now that I finally got one!

 

Also, thought I would mention for people looking at this later. there are two connectors on top of the intake manifold. 4 wires each. the one closest to the front of the truck has a brown/blue wire. This is also a tach wire. easier to get to than the other one.
