It's around $1000 I would be willing to spend.
Name a head unit, 10 inch sub, Amp, 2 6.5 speakers, and 2 6x9 speakers.
I'd like a head unit with a screen that fits well but I don't need nav. I have it on my phone. I can get the Nav dash insert from dodge so it will sit flush and nice.
I'd also have to get a sirius receiver and transfer over my lifetime membership.
Discuss. Maybe look at some used stuff?

I could be wrong, but I think your budget is too low for all of that. You could skimp on the door speakers and use the stock ones powered off the new head unit. But, even then, you'd still be hard pressed to get a head unit, amp, sub, box, and install for $1,000.

I agree you need more money. On my last truck bought a new head unit and amp and had speakers and a sub that I already had installed and was right close to 1000.00. Why not keep the existing head unit and upgrade everything else.
I bought a new deck, 2 Fosgate p400-4 amps , 1 -8" punch sub, and 4-6.5 Punch 3 ways for $600. The shipping was $130. It aint no DB drag competition system but sounds better then my stock system. The Deck is a DVD 3.5" Screen deck aswell
Installing and the subbox for under the seat was more then the cost of the system

I have a clarion HU that works great for powering the crappy rear speakers, for less than $200. I picked up a Thunderform box with 2 10" MTX 4500's for $150 used on Kijiji. Picked up 2 amps, MTX and Sony, and a set of Infinity components which sound great powered by the MTX amp. I got it all for about $1000 total. Look at your local online buy & sell and you will find a whole bunch of gear on the cheap.
Avic-D3 (it seems crappy, but the price is RIGHT, and the backup camera is AWESOME)
Infinity Basslink (self powered, $100 on Craigslist all the time)
the D3 has a High Pass on the internal amps, so I run it at 125hz to the stock speakers.
its sounds REALLY sound if you don't want to drop a fortune.
it will get you good sound for a while.
some add on tweeters would really round out this system, the OEM tweets (if there are any) are dull & lifeless

The avic D-3 is a nice unit. It is prided right and has a lot of functions. You cant go wrong. And you can spend the money elsewhere. I have the fox box and seperates in the doors. Just have to add headrest screens and I am done.
I think if you ebay and craigslist shop you can do it.
First, why are you wanting a head unit? Do you need navigation or dvd? You may consider using the OEM headunit and adding a JL Audio Cleansweep. This gives a VERY good quality signal that will interface your OEM head unit to external amplifiers. Look around, but probably $150 or so.
Some good speakers would be Focals...again, shop around and I bet you can find some deals.
As far as subs, the JL W6's are decent sounding, and decent price.
JL 300/4 and 500/1 amps should fit the ticket for decent sound without outrageous price.
I've seen several ads for these parts in the past year for a real steal...just be patient!
I think you can do it for $1,000 using the existing head unit...otherwise, probably $850-900 + head unit of your choice.

I usually do my searching on www.crutchfield.com they have a lot of nice units to compare, but I don't usually buy there, just find info & model #'s on what models you like & compare prices from that on other sites. bought a couple things from www.etronics.com, good deals
I think you can do it with top end parts as long as your not looking for a db racer. And do the install yourself. The make alot of great 5 channel amps, cost around $300 a nice head unit will run about the same, door speakers are going to be 100 for the 6.5 and 150 for the 6x9s. Thats going to push you right up to a grand after tax and giving you alittle extra room. as far as a sub if you didnt skimp on your amp or your door speakers you may choose not to go with a sub at all. 6x9s will do alot more then what most people think. But in the mean time you choose to go with the sub you can always add it with the 5 channel amp....just me 2 cents
