Step bars

Does any company make step bars that come down from the rocker panels approximately 4-6 inches. I know that Ford comes with them, but the only ones I've seen for my 05 dodge are almost tight to the rocker panels.

Agreed. I don't like the OEM ones at all. By the way, I've only had mine on my truck for around 5 months and I'm looking to sell them. I need something more functional.

If someone is interested, shoot me a PM and make a reasonable offer on 'em.

check out N-Fab's step bars, the main bar is up by the rocker panel, but a step extends down below. They make ones with 1,2,and 3 steps. They are available at Cabellas

I put Carr Super Hoop steps on my '07. A rough guess is a 5" drop from rocker.
Priced right too, I got a pair for ~$100 from Summit Racing. They are cast aluminum so they are light and I think they support up to 350lbs each.
I did get better mounting hardware and add extra support at the mounting points. Oh and added silicone to the drilled holes and between mounting bracket and body for no rust or squeeks.

Cheers
