Step on accelerator - Nada

I have a 2003 dually 4x4 with stick. On three occassions over the past 7 months right after starting the Cummins engine, I put it into gear and step on the accelerator nothing happens; the engine does not speed up and the truck doesn't take off. If I pump the accelerator two or three times, something happens and off I go. It has always been right after start up, doesn't seem to make any difference if warm or cold engine. Never happens more than once in a single day, and the days are months apart. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Mr. Billy

Most likely the APPS (Accelerator Position Sensor) is going south. It can be found under the drivers side battery tray. Try reseating the connector several times (to wipe the contacts) and drive it before replacing the module.

As MikeyB suggested, pop the connector in and out a few times then squeeze some dielectric grease into the connector. That will help stop future corrosion.
