Steering column

I recently bought a 2004.5 2500. The steering column looks like it is not centered in the dash. If you look at it compared to the guage cluster, it is off center to the left and crooked. I looked at my father in laws 2003 6 speed and his steering wheel is centered perfectly. Is there an adjustment for this or could this mean the truck was wrecked?

I have an 2005 and I have also thought that the steering column was slightly off-centered. I have owned since new and nobody else has driven the 94,000 miles on the truck and NO accident, so I know it wasn't wrecked.

I do not know of any adjustment to bring it back centered.

That's interesting. Mine's pretty bad crooked. I'll try to get a pic later. I am wondering how many of these trucks are like that and if it is just the dash or the steering column that's crooked....?

Mine was off centered. There is some adjustment in the steering column bracket. Remove the knee bolster to access the bolts.

Are you talking about the bolts that hold it to the frame?

There are bolts that hold the cloumn to the dash frame, yes. There is quite a bit of adjustment in them.
