I have a 2009 3500 Mega Cab, with the standard stereo (4 speakers). I would like to upgrade speakers and use existing wiring and mounts to do so. Does anybody have an idea what speakers to us for the job, or is there a way to upgrade to the 7 speacker system without upgrading the radio?

 

Go to crutchfield.com. their website tells you what fits. if you buy from them they usually include wiring adapters so you dont have to cut and splice any wiring

 

Ditto. Those folks know their stuff, and you don't get the "outside the US call center" routine when you call them.

6x9 in front doors
6 1/4 in rear door
3 1/2 in dash

Those are factory sizes. You can plate the front doors for components if you wish.

Now as for a particular brand of speaker, thats about like arguing who is better between a Cummins, PS, and Duramax owner.

Personally, I have a Kenwood deck with a truck full of JL Audio stuff.

My opinion, if you are gonna spend the money on quality speakers, ditch the crappy factory head unit too.
