Ive never used the spare tire on any truck and have always been able to fix the tires already installed with a repair kit and fix a flat but Id never consider removing that peace of mind insurance known as the spare tire

Just some food for thought:
Consider how much a similar tire, like what you've got on your truck, costs...
Consider whether or not the tire store that's closest to your truck (with a blown out tire) is going to have a tire like that in stock...
Consider what it will cost if it's not a chain store but in some po-dunk town where a tire might go for $100 more than normal, not to mention road service...
Consider WHERE you've had your tire failure (good or BAD part of town)...
Will your truck be safe til you can locate a similar tire??
How much will a tow truck cost (if truck has to be moved anyway)??
Will you be close enough for someone to come get you and your truck??
Frankly, I've seen many people over the years take that chance, and LOSE. And, it usually happens on a Sunday, when you can't get a replacement, when only premium-cost $$$ service guys are working, and in an area that you really wouldn't want to leave your truck, and...it's usually their luck that nobody in town has a similar tire, til Monday. This is the one question that I won't hesitate in saying, DON'T EVEN TRY IT!!! The day you need it you will thank the good Lord that you made a wise decision. Hope this helps.

I understand the thinking about mounting the horns where the spare goes but in my mind, the piece of mind of having something and never using it overrides the need for horns.
Besides its your truck, your choice.
Thats MHO

Good point bnold. Akways keep two sime size tires on the drive train side of things. Usually the rear. But not always. I have limpoed out of the desert with two sized tires on a locker in the front, but it was a bucking bronco ride. I was just happy to get home.

And remember, pet05 is able to move the spare from under the bed into the bed under a lockable cover. So he will still have the spare.
Now as I am looking to add a stereo, any ideas on just tossing the jack into the corner of the garage to make room under the seat for an amp?

Stick it in the bed, since you have the cover. My theory on spares is the same as my theory about carrying a pistol. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Well even though I have a dually I still carry the spare. I have had to use it more than once, one time on my stock trailer. I will never travel anywhere without a spare tire. Yes I carry a can of fix a flat and usually an air tank when I am trailering anything, but those two things can't fix a blowout. I would find room somewhere else for the tire or the horn. IMHO.
