Some peoples kids!!!!

A friend of mine was going to have me help him put a 93 CTD into a Chevy crew cab 4x4. Then one night I came home with a 99 4x4 CTD. So two nights ago he went out to out do me and traded the 2wd for an 06 mega cab 6spd. So now he wants me to get him all the horse power and specs for him. If he would have only been a little more patient we would have started the conversion.
So what are the ins and outs of the 06 Mega Cabs? What kind of power and torque are they putting out? What kind of bug have you guys found?

P.S. He bought a 1 ton and didn't even make sure it had a hitch and wiring. What a goober.

the 06 still has the 325/610 engine. Different 6-speed manual if he got the manual. dropped the NV5600 and went to the G56

Better trans features on the 06 automatic. Tow/haul + OD lockout and exhaust brake approved. I REALLY want to step up.

Yes he is a young guy! He has done well for himself though. I just didn't understand why he wanted to get into a payment when he was doing so well. But hey He is buying a house with ten acres and just paid cash for a 30x40 barn. He got lots of help from friends to keep costs down. He did get 5500 for the trade in that he only paid 5800 for. That is a decent return. He said he got his payments under 400 with 0 intrest, but he had to push it out to 6 years.
If you were a single guy with all of that would you want to get into a payment?
Also, can the 6 prong trailer brake wiring be done at home with an off the shelf kit? I am being told you have to use the Dodge kit because of the way they wired it.

Sounds like he got a Dave Smith truck. They sell them cheap but don't always include the tow package which on a diesel is completely useless.

There is a Dodge part number for adding the tow package. It includes the bolt on reciever (the cross tube is there hooked to the frame from the factory) and the wiring harness. It all goes on straight forward and is about an hour total time for install. It looks factory once it is done. I had to do it on a 2004 Dave Smith truck.

Jay....you know its calling your name

Just think of it in terms of how many transmission and engine R&R's it would take to pay for it.......

yea he got a really good deal if he didn't put money down.... In 6 years with no interest and $400. a month payments thats only $28,800. For a mega cab 1ton with a diesel... Yea right. He is pulling your leg or he put some serious money down. Like another $5-10k.

I put 7k down and 6 years with right around 5.5% rate on my 05 2500 laramie and that got me at $399.61/month. I don't know any one at least around here that gives 0% interest on heavy dutys...
