Should i get a newer style steering setup???

i have a bad tierod on the right side and befor i replace it i was wondering if i should go with the newer sysle front end. i was reading about it and notice theres some recalls on some of them and you also have to get a $300 steering stablizer. Whats should i do and if i should change what parts do i need and where do i get them. the more i read about the recall and parts the more confused i get. Thanks

If you compare the "old" style front end parts to the "new" ones you will see that there is quite a difference. I believe that the new one is much much better. I'm not sure about a $300 steering stablizer. I don't remember paying that much. I did replace the steering stablizer and the pitnum arm when I added the new "kit". The kit does not come with those two parts, they must be purchased seperately. Make sure when you purchase your new parts that the "kit" part number ends with "AE". I would recommend you get the "kit", the steering stablizer and the new pitnum arm. You can purchase them at a dealer or on line through a site thats called moparparts.com(I think thats the correct web address). I think its about $275-$300 for the kit and I don't remember the cost of the pitnum arm or the stablizer.

I think there is an article this month in the 4Wheeler or Off-Road magazine that shows doing this upgraded steering system.

I believe this is the thread with all the part numbers for the upgraded steering. You'll want to replace that pitman arm with the one mentioned in this thread. Otherwise your going to have problems with contact when you bottom out the suspension.

Just make sure when you order the upgraded steering that you get the part number ending in "AE".

I had the new steering put on today ,along with a BDS steering box brace & Thuren stabilizer. There is no doubt it makes a difference. The truck was much more responsive & no wandering on the hwy tonight. I feel it was a definite plus IMO.

I swapped it all over but haven't gotten a new steering stabilizer yet, it drives fine without it, much better than with the old stuff. I would recommend it to anyone that needs to replace anything in the front end.

day and night. I was getting unusual tire wear and a bit of wobble. The new steering setup is far superior
