Smile Should I buy?? 2006 Ram 2500 Mega Diesel

Hello everyone! I'm new here and have a few questions I know everyone will give good advice about.

I'm looking at a very hard loaded 2006 Ram 2500 Mega Diesel Laramie with automatic. It is completely stock. It has 170,000 one owner miles with meticulous routine service records. Engine oil and filter changed every 10k miles with Rotella. The transmission is original and has been serviced every 25k miles. It is on it's 3rd air conditioner. Don't know why? The truck has been used to haul trailers since new. I know the fuel injectors and fuel pump are original to the truck. I've heard these are bad about going out on these trucks? Is that true? My main question is "Would this be a dependable vehicle for long journey trips?" It's a really good deal at $9300 (has some body damage) but still very driveable!

What other potential problems may be looming around the corner? How many miles do you think I could get from this truck?

I think the mileage and application are ok. Is the title going to be clean or is the body damage reported? That truck with a good body clean interior and good title should bring low to mid 20's if 4x4, high teens if 2wd. Could be a good deal if the body fix is less than the difference.

Yes the title is clean. It is 2wd. The interior is as clean as it gets. I honestly cannot believe the immaculate condition of the leather seats with the mileage. I don't think anyone ever set in the back. What a waste of the "mega" portion of the cab. I don't know everything included in the Laramie package but when I said "loaded" I mean power sunroof, dual power heated leather seats, power sliding rear window. The owner said it has every available option except the navigation.

With a truck just 4 years old and 170,000 miles I believe the claim that most miles are from highway!

Wow, I never go 10K between oil changes, let alone always pulling a trailer. LOL Too many gas vehicles in my past I guess.

Whoops...the oil was changed every 5k with Rotella and the fuel filter every 10k! Does that sound better??

Even if it was a gasser that would still be a good deal. Don't think twice about the mileage. Mine had 200k on it when I picked it up a year ago for only $7,500... Since then I've been all around (tip to tip) of Texas for work and out of state with mine. No issues and gets 20 mpg+-

Ignore the mileage not near enough to worry about, if you like the rest, grab it.

Sounds like a real good deal if the body damage isn't bad.
I'd look at the wear parts, like water pump, ball jts, tie rods, front unit bearings, brakes, shocks etc.
Also, not speaking from experience on 48RE transmissions, but I wouldn't bank on more than 200k out of any auto trans (although some do go longer).
Figure in the cost of repairing the above items if they haven't been done recently and add that to the puchase price. If your total # comes in less than what others are selling lower mileage trucks then go for it.
FWIW, high mile, hot shot trucks seem to need less repairs than similar mileage daily drivers.
