Shocked!

When I bought my Mega a few months back, the 6" pro comp lift was already installed by a local tire shop. It has been great, with zero problems, until yesterday I walking towards the truck and noticed the rear shocks were covered in oil.

Stopped by local tire shop (Les Schwab) and discovered all 4 shocks were completely blown out. They have busted seals, leaking everywhere, and have little to no resistance of function. They are the pro comp adjustable shocks.

Anyone ever heard of this or experienced shocks giving out so early. The truck has rarely left pavement, the lift has around 15,000 miles on it. Any thoughts?

Les Schwab said $350 to repalce all 4 shocks installed. Any of you lifted Megacab guys have any good suggestions on shocks?

I never buy a shock or any parts really, unless lifetime warranty. My Napa guy is great about replacements!! I wish he sold Bilstein though.

Update.....
I just got off the phone with Pro-Comp and they were extremely unhelpful. They warranty their shocks, but only if you are the original owner or purchaser. So their stance is basically, "we don't care that our product failed in ONLY 15,000 miles, and we will not, and do not have to back our product anymore because you bought the truck with the shocks already installed! That is admin edit.

Anyone looking at pro comp stuff, beware!

This is obviously not a life ending ordeal or big amount of money, but I hope you guys understand the frustration here.

Do not subsitute special characters for cursewords, it's the same thing here.
Sorry about your shocks...

I would contact ProComp. They may have had problems with some of their shocks in their kits, they may take care of it for you. Otherwise I'd be looking at getting in touch with Carli or Thuren about new shocks.

All the "white body" shocks are junk, avoid them like the plaque.

If only Bilstien made an externally adjustable shock. I like 5100's for the front but they just don't cut if for the rear if you ever haul heavy. Has anyone heard any feedback about the new mono flow Rancho 9000's? They are supposed to be a big improvement in durability and fade resistance over their predecessors.

I have heard this from several guys.....and that is one of the most frustrating points I have tried to argue with Pro-Comp. The shocks should last 4 times as long as they did, and with all 4 shocks blowing out within a relatively short time period means there is obviously a problem and not a coinsidence! I can not believe that Pro-Comp won't recognize a defective product here.

Why would they warranty the shocks, they don't have your money they have the guys you bought the truck from. Now they have an oppurtunity to get your money as well. But this is nothing new......that's why companies and the economy are going down the tube.

I agree with the point you are making. Although, as a business man, I have to believe this is not how you run a successful business.

Why would they warranty the shocks? Well, they replace my DEFETIVE shocks so that I get on DTR forum and tell everyone how great Pro-Comp customer service is and how they took care of a problem when their product failed. INSTEAD of that happening.....I get on DTR and explain what a horrible customer serivce policy Pro-Comp has, especially with such a obvious defect. All 4 shocks blown out in 15,000 miles!

90% of Pro Comp customers don't research on the internet. Most Pro Comp customers are customers because the local shop recommend them (that's the kit that shop carries of course) or because the dealer installed a Pro Comp kit. Pro Comp knows this so they could care less if someone bad mouths them on the internet. This is typical of all the big name off-the-shelf kit manufacturers: Fabtech, Superlift, etc.
