Pinch weld! I heard people complaining about them making noise after a month or two but I've had no issues at all. I've had mine for a about a year now. I did replace all the bolts with grade 8. The bolts they send are regular old zinc plated hardware bolts, carriage bolts I believe is what they sent? They are junk! I broke a couple of them after taking the steps off and putting them back on.

I put Westin CPS stepbars on my truck in 2004. They still look new after a good cleaning despite all of the sand and salt they have been subjected too.

Not the actual welds themselves, but the lip under the cab.
