My neigbor does horse transport for income. The auto with 3.73s on flat at 66 is ok.BUT any kind of hills, mountains or switch backs it eaither guts or screams on downshift.Says my truck pulls MUCH better.I can keep it at 65/68 mph up the hill and down the hill and in switchbacks without much downshifting on all but the biggest grades puling 10k.

Mine turns just under 2100rpm's at 70mph with the stock tires and the NV5600 trans. Wish someone made a tire that was a bit taller but not wider. A 75 or 80 series tire would be great!!

I agree with the above statement - I'm at about 2050 rpm's at 70 with the same setup.

That sounds about perfect, well, the G56 with 3.73's that is. Or even the 48RE with the 4.10's.. Either combo would work out well for me. Scotty

I am sitting at just over 2000rpms while doing 70mph. 315/70R17s, 4.10s and NV5600. I'd like to be a bit lower but the 4.10s sure make towing niiiiiice.

may I just add that scotty is looking for a DUALLY 3500 That dually would come with 235/80/17's not 265/70/17's. The 235's are just a little bit taller than the 265's are. I have a dually but I never pay attention to the rpm's at a given speed. I will let you know tomorrow when I get home. I have the 48re/ 4:10 setup. which is exactly what he is looking at. I get 9mpg loaded running 70-80mph around town. But I get 16 or so with no trailer but that has never been on a long trip. I just usually use it empty around town on the weekends to run up town or something. I am very happy with my combo and wouldn't go any other route.

That is good word.. I appreciate that. That is exactly what I will look for, a 48RE with 4.10's or a 6 speed with 3.73's, either of those seem like they will pull very well for my purposes, and should get decent fuel mileage around town. Hopefully I will be able to wait until the 06's are discounted some more or maybe the EP stuff comes back on line. Scotty

I have 3.54's
Looking to swap a set of 4.10's in soon I hope.
I use this truck for my daily 120 mile to a fro work.

Just to mix it up a little,

NV5600 6-speed w/4.10 rear-end and 245/75-16 (stock) tires on a GMC Sub, 2250 @ 70MPH, 2000 @ 60MPH.

Mark
