Remote start

I have an 05 with the super duper key thing. Is there any way to bypass the chipped key as to install a remote start?

I saw some fool leaning on my truck (all cool) while hitting on some girl and I never realized just how much I missed the remote start like I had on my 98 gasser.

Yes, you should be able to bypass the key chip to install a remote start.

Any of the big name brands should be able to do it.

Yes you can, I have one on my 04 and my buddy has one one his 04.5 but be fore warned it is going to cost a pretty penny. Up here in Canada they cost about $700 installed.

You can get one from DC for about $400. All of the car stereo places can install an after market one for about $500
I would go with the one from DC that way it's covered under warranty and garenteed to work with the Super Wamadyned key thingy as you called it

You don't have to bypass the sentry key system if you get the mopar remote start. That's what I would suggest. You should be able to get mopar starter about the same price if not cheaper than an aftermarket one and you still have the security of the sentry key.

A guy at a local shop told me to break a key and put the chip end of it in the steering console

that defeates the purpose of having the sentry key setup..... I would just go to the dodge dealer and have them install the mo-power one. I was quoted $500. installed and it works great as a shut down timer since you can hit the button and turn the key off and get out.. I will run for the 10 minutes you have it set at.. That is the major reason why I am getting one besides the cold winters.. Now if I could only get it to turn on the seat warmers for me.......hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

viper alarm

I have a viper alarm/remote start/cool down timer. Installed and ready to go for $500. You can adjust the length of run time for remote start and and you can adjust the time of cool down as well.

viper makes a kit for it. You will have to give up one of your keys to fit inside the kit or go buy a new key and have it programmed to your truck so you will be left with two keys instead of one. The kit is only $48 for the viper remote start/alarm.

Good luck!

Any of these remote start kits have any type of delay, to wait for the grid heaters to cycle before it actually cranks the motor?? I'd like to have one that will let the heaters do their job before it actually starts up the engine.

Its only gotten to around 30 deg, around here, and I have to wait like 15 sec. for the wait to start light to go out, so I can imagine when it gets colder, like in the 20's how long to wait? Id like to have that delay to let the heaters do their job so the truck can crank easier....

It works great. I've got the Valet unit, and it is smart enough to preheat. The guy that installed it had to order an option from the manufacturer to make it wait.
