Boy that looks complicated. Did you see that motor there is EDIT everwhere. I think I'm glad I have an 05. Maybe this one will stay in one piece a bit longer. I' be a bit afraid to be the guinnea pig on that one..

No point in upgrading now, I was wating for a the 6-speed & 6.7l . According to TDR the engine and tranny for the MY '07 2500 will be the same as MY '06.
"We asked if this transmission was going to be used in the regular 2500 and 3500 trucks and were told that the '07 model will continue with the 48RE."
"We were however told that the Ram 2500 and 3500 models for 2007 will be rolled out with the existing 5.9 liter engine."
Maybe Dodge is just saying that so they can keep selling '06s for now.
Funny, the Cummins website says they are ending production of the 5.9 .

Edit after seeing that and all the monitors and sensors on that Edit thing im kinda glad i got an 06. It looks complicated as hell and probably is going to be hard to mod with all of those senosors and crap....what do yall think?

These are commercial ratings. I wouldn't read too much into those and besides who cares, people who buy one generally decide themselves what the output will be. I'm still tryin to figure out how Chevy and Ford have those specs beaten. When you look ar their commercial site looks as if Dodge is right in the ballgame with their specs. Towing, load carrying, gross combined weight etc all specs are either a little more or a bit less, but within 500 lbs.when you compare 1 ton series trucks
I like it, but I think I'll wait a few years till they work the bugs out of the new engine. 12500 GVWR, while nothing amazing seems to be similar to Ford and GM; GM 1-ton dually chassis cabs 11400 - 12000 GVWR, 11800 - 13000 GVWR for the F350 duallys.
Typical DC Blunder
Three things I don't like:
1) The Quad Cab is only available with the 60" cab to axle ratio. Big Deal. I could get an 06 box delete with the same dimensions. Sure would have liked to have seen a Quad Cab with the 84" cab to axle.
2) The SRW has a 10,200 GVWR. This puts it over the threshold of 10,000# meaning if you use it for commercial purposes you are subject to FMCSA regulations which will require a log book, DOT numbers on the side, etc. They couldn't have took 200# off and avoided us the hassle?? I smell a skunk here. When they first brought out the Sprinter 3500 cab/chassis it had a GVWR of 9990# and now mysteriously it has been bumped up to 10,200# as well.
3) The UGLY badges on the doors RAM

Reminds me of a mid 60's Ford p/u with the I-Beam badge on the front fender.

There is a way around that problem.. Since it is a Cab and chassis the bed manufacturer can derate the GVWR to under 10,000 pounds if they choose to
or you request it.
The Freightliner Fl60 In my photo album came as a cab and chassis with a GVWR of 10,600 pounds. At the request/requirement of our company The bed manufacturer Yellow stickered it and lowered it to 9990 pounds so a class "B" drivers license was not required. So we now have 9990 GVWR truck with air brakes being driven by Class "C" drivers. Also there is no pre-trip inspection required on this truck because of the GVWR adjustment.
The State vehicle registration also reflects the Lower GVWR. I asked the California Highway Patrol about this and they said it is done all the time and the GVWR they have to go by is what is printed on the registration.

Wow, that is cool. I attempted to do something similar with my 97 Ram 3500 cab/chassis when I was going to buy a new cargo box to put on it but US Truck Body out of Streator, IL told me it was illegal for them to change the original manufacturers GVW rating. It has an 11,000# GVWR.
I also tried plating my truck for 10,000# which the state (Indiana) allowed with no problem but I got pulled over by a vehicle enforcement officer in Kentucky and the first thing he did was open my driver's door to check the GVW tag. The reason for being pulled over was no DOT number on the truck. I told him it was plated for 10,000 and he said it didn't matter what the license plates said they go by manufacturers tag.
Anybody else have any info about this? I would gladly buy another box to get under the 10,001 threshold.
