registration and insurance

How much does it cost you to drive your 03/04 cummins truck on an annual basis?

Basic coverage = $1293 my cost =$737
third party liability 2mil limit = 276 My cost = $127
Collision $300 deductable = $1352 My cost = $622
comprehensive $300 deductable = 1248 My cost = $462
special coverage collision = $121 My cost = $121
replacement cost = $43 My cost = $43

annual insurance totals = $4333.00 My cost = $2112
My cost is the out-the-door figure I have to pay to drive my truck each year.
(breakdown of discounts: safe drivers discount =$1793+ gold savings $316 + anti theft $112)

In British Columbia We have a provincial insurance corperation that handles all vehicle insurance and registration. There is no competition for basic coverage. there is competition for optional coverage like collision and comprehensive.
There are discounts or surcharges based on your driving record. If I have an at fault accident my premiums go up 30% and fall by 5% each year of safe driving until I reach the maximum discount of 43% Each time I have an accident my premiums go up (it is concevable to have a 43% surcharge on the $4333 insurance fee)

What is your out-the-door cost to drive your truck each year?

One heck of lot less than that! :P
Full coverage with $500 deductable is $348 every six months. Registration, renewed this month, cost me $88 for a year.

Maybe his price is in Canadian dollars and not USD. His profile says he is from B.C.

Re:registration and insurance

Full coverage with $100 deductable $438 every 6 months.
No replacement cost
Registration is $0, I paid it once, about $30 and don't have to pay every again (Disabled Vet) and don't have to have it DEQ(smog) inspected because it's a 1 ton truck ;D ;D.
Registration will change in 2 years because I'm moving the plates to my 5VR so I can save $200 every 2 years on it's plates ;D

Re:registration and insurance

The dollar amount quoted is in Canadian dollars (rough translation about $1400 USd) We do get hammered here on the coast. It is said there are only three types of cars in Richmond (neighboring municipality) Mercedes, BMW, and bodyshop loaners. One must be somewhat of a local to understand that one...

Re:registration and insurance

I pay about $300 a MONTH for full coverage on my truck in the most expensive insurance state in the nation. Going to be switching this soon to either Florida or full commercial for either a lot less or a lot more depending on what I decide to do with myself...

Re:registration and insurance

Westcoaster, I understand that one as my significant other is from the lower mainland. We get there often as her daughter lives there. My better half's insurance dropped to roughly half when she moved here.

Man, I wish I could get a 43% discount for being a safe driver. The discount from my insurer is 5% or 10% for being a safe driver. I spun my F350 into a bridge last winter for $3000 worth of damage and my first accident ever in 13 years of driving.

My Dodge 3500 costs me $938 a year. My total bill is $3212 with 2003 Dodge 3500, 2003 VW Golf, travel trailer, umbrella liability, and homeowner's.

I always see people bragging about lower insurance, but where you live matters a lot, plus I carry the maximum coverages. My agent says not to bother shopping around for a few years with the accident on my record.

Re:registration and insurance

I payed around $120 for full coverage and max limits for Full coverage for the past year. This past month they dropped my rate to $98 dollars and made me smile. $1200 dollars year for full coverage. Not bad I'd say since one of my bud's is paying $280 a month for a mid 90's Lexus. Texas has some of the worst insurance rates in the US.

I have one claim and found from shopping around that my rate would only go up if I tried to move from State Farm b/c of the claim. It takes about 3 yrs for a claim to clear off of you insurance records.
