Has anyone ever thought of taking a regular cab CTD long bed and customizing it to be a short bed?

I think that'd be a kick ace truck! I'm not sure what problems you'd experience doing this, but Dodge puts a Hemi in a short bed reg cab truck. Why don't they do it with the CTD?

And why hasn't anyone done this themselves? I guess the hard part would be the frame? I think it'd be cool though....

 

if you go over to the dieselstop, there is a thread "check out this short bed" or something along those lines. someone over there has done this to a SD. it is someone who does custom stuff and he's done a few of them i think. i think he's a member of the socal powerstroke regestry or something like that...

it could be done. cut the frame, get 2 frame repair inserts from dodge, and weld the frame back together at the right length for a short bed to fit. get a fuel tank for the reg cab/sb [±90 liters or so] shorten up the brake/fuel lines. re-route the wireing harnesses to avoid shortening them... expensive mistake if you bugger up the frame work though..

 

I don't know that Id bother with it.. sure the long bed can suck to park, but I dunno that Id wanna chance fubaring the frame.
