Rear brake assistance

Hey guys,

I'm working on the rear brakes of my 2004 2500 4x4 and having a hell of a time. I thought I read somewhere on here that the hub assembly needed to be removed...Is this correct?

If so, can someone give me some suggestions? At this pointly I've got the bolts removed and the axle spline out, but this seems an extraordinary amount of work to do a brake job.

Are the front brakes the same as well?

Thanks!
