Rear brake assistance

Hey guys...I also posted this in the non-drivetrain forum, so sorry for dual post but I need to get this fixed since it's my wife's vehicle.

I'm working on the rear brakes of my 2004 2500 4x4 and having a heck of a time. I've never done the brakes on a bigger 4x4, so I tried to do some research on here ahead of time. I thought I read somewhere on here that the rear hub assembly needed to be removed to get the rotors off...Is this correct?

If so, can someone give me some suggestions? At this point I've got the bolts removed and the axle spline out, but this seems an extraordinary amount of work to do a brake job.

Thanks!

NO NO. THe rotors should pull right off. may have to beet on them with a hammer to get them free but shouldnt have to take the bearings apart.

Make sure the emergency brake is not set. This would bind the rotor.

if yours is the same as the 01.5's

Yes you have to pull the axles and you will need a 2 9/16 socket to remove the nut. I would suggest you do one side at a time. There is a little metal retainer clip that locks that nut, it just pulls straight out. There are 8 15mm bolts holding the hub to the rotor/drum assy, you will need an impact driver and an impact rated socket to remove these, they are loctited at the factory. Replace the seals while you are in it that far the only cost about $11.00 each.
