Is this realistic?... kinda long read
Is this realistic?... kinda long read
After doing what seemed like way too much reading regarding backspacing on aftermarket wheels and all the different opinions on what looks good and what sticks out too far. I decided to try and pull some measurements and see what my new BFG KM2's would theoretically look like on the wheel at the top of my very short wish list.
The wheel is a Centerline Wilderness Series Wildcat...17x9 5.25" backspacing

This was my "method"
Pulled the factory wheel off, I cut 4 blocks and put them inside the tire between the beads to simulate the dimensions of being mounted on a 9" wide wheel. Centered the unmounted tire on the hub as best I could. Using a straight edge I measured from the flat wheel mounting surface of the hub to the bead of the tire and "squared" up the toe and camber measurements. Next using the same method with the straight edge, I measured back from the hub 5.25" to set the backspacing and then rechecked the toe and camber #'s. Would doing all this give a realistic position of the tire with the wheels I want in relation to the fenders?

Thanks a ton... jamesb

Well done ^^^Looks about right
The one below is 9" wide, around 5.25 backspace and 12.5" wide tire. (looks like your photo)
