RB 1 Navigation Radio Came in Today!!!

Just got the RB 1 Navigation radio in today and I thought I would give you my first impressions.

THIS THING IS AWESOME!!!!!

It was very easy to install. Probably took 10 mins at most. Picked up my location within 30 seconds of turning it on. I was prepared to wait longer but didn’t have to. I have messed around with it all afternoon and it works great. I entered the destination that I wanted to go to and it took me right there with turn by turn directions. I even turned the wrong way on purpose and it immediately recalculated the route. The voice prompt feature is nice also.
I was originally going to buy a Pioneer AVIC-N1 but I’m glad I didn’t. I think that the pioneer is a very good product but I could just see my kid grabbing the flip-out display and yanking it off the dash one day. I am also a little leery of motorized displays. Sooner or later they will fail. This is a very good looking unit and it looks like a factroy radio (guess it is huh) so it won't be as noticeable to someone looking to steal.

If anyone is interested I would highly recommend the RB 1

Britt

Do you have to get an extra intena for the navigation , and does it have the satalite radio, if so does it take an extra intena. I myself am thinking of doing this swop, id just hate to loose the disc changer, its pretty handy.

the navigation antenna is included with the RB 1. it is very easy to mount. it mounts right behind the radio on the A/C duct. it is sirius sat. ready. you have to purchase a sirius tuner kit. you can get them off of ebay for around $200. you won't loose the disc changer. you just have to have an adapter to make both of them work. not much money.

hope this helps some

okay let me see if i can explain.

you will lose your in dash cd changer if you go with the RB 1. you will have to buy a regular CD changer which you can buy off of ebay for around $150 that will hook directly to the RB 1. the delphi tuner will work but you will either have to use the casette adapter or a FM modulator to make it work with your radio. neither have great sound quality. if you decide to buy the RB 1 you can hook up a sirius tuner to it directly thereby having better sound quality and the ability to display the artist info. on the radio display itself. all any radio will have, either from the factory or aftermarket, is a satillite radio "ready" sign on it. there are very few that have the tuner already built in to them.
the delphi unit with everything needed to hook up to the radio will cost around $200 about the same as the sirius tuner for the RB 1. once again with the RB 1 you get navigation ability but you will lose your cd changer.
i personally would rather have the navigation system and then buy the cd changer and sirius radio for around $350 more. then you will have a complete system. cheaper then you could buy a aftermarket system with all of this for.

hope this helps

yes, the antenna that comes with the RB 1 is just for the navigation. the satillite tuner has the other antenna.

Well congrats on the install. I agree they are safer than the aftermarket units, but the screen on the RB1 is so tiny I'm not sure how you deal with it. Can't get much map on a 3 inch screen

Thanks for the info on the RB1 T-7, what would be a good price to pick one of these up on e-bay? I saw one on there for about $ 850.00.

If I had one complaint about the RB 1 I would have to second yours. I do wish the screen were a little bigger. The screen in my wife’s 2005 Accord is about 6” across. The RB 1 is not “that” small but I do wish it were a little bigger.
All of the positives out weigh the one negative to me though.
One small thing of note: I do like the fact that the since it is a factory radio, the radio (and map screen) dims with the rest of the lights on the dash. Nothing big but I don’t think you can get an aftermarket unit to do that.

I bought mine off of ebay for $875 with free shipping.

Here is the person that I bought from.

RB 1 Radio Auction

I would highly recommend them. The radio was exactly as he described and was here with three day shipping. Sent me the tracking number once it was shipped (I like that). There are others selling the same radio for $1300 to $1500 on ebay though I doubt they sell very many of them. Very pleased with my purchase.

Britt,
What radio did you have before the RB1, I have the Infinity Radio with the CD and Cassette and have thought about this change too.

Thanks for all the information.

Eric,

I had the radio with the single CD only. Not sure which one it was. It wasn't the Infinity System though.

Here is a picture:

The only thing I want to do now is change my speakers out and maybe add a amp to power a pair of 10" subs under the rear seat.

The RB 1 will work just fine with the Infinity system though.
