Radio changes stations automatically...HELP

My Infiniti stereo on my '06 just started changing stations on it's own. It seems to get a little worse every day.

I usually listen to Sattelite so say if it's on channel 100. It will randomly go to channel 101 and then back again. Sometimes it will go to channel 99 and back again. I thought maybe it had to do with the steering wheel buttons so I tried turning the wheel but it didn't seem to matter.

Any advice would be very helpful.

Should I:

1. Try getting a new head unit at a junkyard?

2. Send head unit out for repair?

3. Get new stereo? Anybody know which ones will allow me to keep my steering wheel button/bluetooth functionality?

TIA

1) It could be either the head unit or the sat receiver. Generally, the sat receiver is only doing what the head unit says to...i.e. change channels. If you could 'borrow' someone's head unit, that might be a start.

2) Not sure...see #1

3) AFAIK, no aftermarket radio will work with Dodge's UCONNECT and the steering wheel buttons. Someone with recent car stereo experience may say otherwise. Crutchfield seems pretty knowledgeable, but then the are trying to sell car stereo stuff, so beware.

I know this is a little it of an old post but I am wondering if you found the problem. Mine started doing exactly what you are describing.

Mine did that about a year ago. I found that if I turned the dial, I can feel the dial was in between two cicks. This was driving me crazy for about a week. Never happened again.

Near as I can figure safecracker is right. I took the tuning **** and turned it around a bit then tried to set it in one spot. Makes sense, I very rarely touch this **** a everything is on preset.
