getting ready to do a coolant flush- so, i figured for 12 bucks i would go ahead and replaced the radiator cap too. ordered the cap online- used the part number right off of the cap-05278697aa-16psi- it arrives in the mail- different cap (shape) and different psi!-- this one is a 17psi cap. called the dealer- they told me that the new one i recieved supercedes the old cap part number,etc. can anybody confirm this for me?? any guys out there with an 06 truck-do you have a 17psi cap instead of 16psi??? thanks.

 

all's i know is there's a problem with blowing freeze plugs on these 3gen motors. i installed a 14 psi cap on my pickup. i would prifer some blowoff at my cap, instead of a freeze plug.

 

anybody else?

 

Old number was 5086226aa, new number from Mopar superceding the old one is 4596198. Used from 1993-2008. Hope this helps!

 

number on my cap is 05278697aa-not 05086226aa- the one i did receive is the 4596198-so it is a 17psi cap now!
