Quality front end shop in NE OK?
Quality front end shop in NE OK?
Does anybody know of a good Front end shop in the Tulsa, OK or NE Oklahoma area?
I've been fighting road walk for a while. First I thought it was ball joints and tires. Replaced ball joints last year. Put tires on a month ago and had the guys that put the ball joints on to check everything. They said the joints were good, but the truck was out of alignment. That may have helped, but not enough to notice.
I then thought it was the steering box wear/play, replaced and still have the problem. I went to replace the bushings on the Track Bar and the parts i got from the parts store were the wrong ones.
I am now fed up and ready to take it to a PRO somewhere to get this fixed. My dealer has been good to me but I thought if I could get with some "Experts" that fix this problem outside OEM specs I would be willing to check them out first and save some of the $150/hr shop rate.
I am wanting to get this taken care of before I go on a road trip to Wyoming in October. I will be pulling a trailer, which amplifies the problem. Before the tires, I thought it was due to weak sidewalls and squating in the rear. I could hardly keep the 5er in the road with the slightest wind. I know pulling takes weight off the front, but the truck is designed to pull, so there really should not be much of a noticable difference. Shocks for towing are in the near future and I now have air bags in the rear.

Yep, as well as the Track bar, shocks, steering linkage, steering shaft, steering stabilizer and steering box (redhead). Stinks I have put all the money and parts in the truck, but the problem is still there. Everything was an upgrade, so it is not like I am swapping same for same. Still would like a resolution without having to take to a dealer and be overcharged for their lack of knowledge.
UPDATE. MY STEERING IS FIXED!!!! Thank the Lord. Here was the problem. Ball Joints! I had the Ball Joints replaced in Aug 2009 and they went bad and were binding. Any guesses on the Brand? MOOG! One out of the 4 was dry, but that was the one that was the best out of them all. One case split in half when it popped out of the slot in the axle.
I went to a diesel shop in Tulsa, Ok. "Diesel Performance" just off 56th and Garnete. Doug spotted the problem right away and had it fixed in a day. Great guy and knows his stuff.
Just to recap I had the truck at 3 different shops before Diesel Performance including a dealer. All said the ball joints were "Tight" and good. Doug said "Tight" is not good, there should be movement, just very little. "Tight" means binding. The Axle under the 6.7does not perform well with the Moogs, but Moogs work well with the other axels under Gen 1s and Gen 2s. He also said Moog bushings are quality.
