protection

I need some help, I live in a deer infested area. I have already almost hit two of the devils. I am looking for a grille/bumper guard that can easily take on a deer or whatever and still keep my truck looking good. Keep in mind I don't want something that looks like it is overkill either. I really want something that is going to offer protection for the headlights and grille as well as everything in the front end. Thanks for the help.

Thread topic - there are several manufacturers of bumpers that will handle a deer. Fab Fours, Ranch Hand, Tough Country to name a few. I think all have options for grill and light guards.

Festus, how do you keep yours so shiny? The road salt really took the shine out of mine. Polished it a couple times with mothers aluminum polish, but it doesn't last too long. Any secrets?

Ranchand. Even if you dont want a full replacement bumper, their brush guards will handle a hit. My cousin has a Ranchand brush guard and hit a deer at 70 mph, It only broke his fog light. I have a full replacement bumper. no deer yet, I think they are scared.

Well, if you must know, door handle covers, vent visors, moldings, and hood deflector are the only things that are plasticized chrome. Bumper is aluminum, just polished. Everything else is stainless. I have no problem - I wanted to accent the solid color - I am done now however.

This particular bumper I have seen take a moose without damage. That's why I got one.

Hitch cover cost $13 at the local Cummins dealer. Stupid price for plastic, but it looked cool.

1) I haven't driven it all that much since getting it the end of December - I have a company supplied truck and been working alot.

2) I have a polish at home we used on the aluminum wheels of our OTR trucks from when I used to drive for my paycheck. When I get home, I'll have to check the bottle for the name. Most OTR dealer parts departments carry it.

3) After washing, I wax with the spay wand at the car wash, then spot free rinse. When I get home, I wipe it down with good 'ol windex - sparingly.

No real big secrets!
