Port of Baltimore

I'm hoping that someone on this site can help me with the ststus of my new 2005 3500. My truck has been at the port of Baltimore for over 2 weeks with a (delivery to dealer date of 29 Nov 04). Well as you no this date has come and gone. My dealer say's that he has called everyone that he knows and no one can give him an answer of why my truck has not been delivered. I called DC customer service yesterday. They told me that the truck is cleared for delivery and has been since 1 Dec 04. Does anyone have any contacts at the port or any help at all? The wait is about to kill me.

this sounds familiar, 'nother member had a similar exp. same big ars port. prob was when the truck was finallly delivered to him it was without all the added items he ordered. Hope you do better, having been to Baltimore that port is big but no excuse for loosing a truck, hammer harder on the dealer and if that doesn't help try it with saturday customers in the showroom!

I don't know about your truck but I get deliveries out of the Port of Baltimore and sometimes they get really backed up due to a shortage of drivers. I have had trailers sit there for weeks before they finally got a truck under it.....

Good luck....

I live fairly close to the Port of Baltimore and let me tell you....the volume of vehicles delivered is unbelieable. Like others said, i'm sure they are just really backed up.

You're not going to like this, but I've been in touch with a couple of local dealers (central Mass) about getting an 05 6 speed. One of them called me yesterday to tell me one just came in. (6 speeds are like hens teeth around here) This 2500 was built in August and just arrived. I don't know how long it sat in Mexico, on the boat or in Baltimore, but it certainly sat somewhere, other than the dealer's lot, for four months.

I have this theory about why the trucks have to sit somewhere for a while before delivery. Perhaps they are like tomatoes, you know, they are picked green & ripen in transit.

My '04 sat on a railcar in Port of Vera Cruz for three weeks. This was back when the Insight data base was still working for us "civilians". I'd go in EVERY day & check status. My truck arrived two days too late to qualify for the Holiday Special they were running a year ago. An extra, I think, $500 in rebates.

My 04 vanished in transit and we later learned it went through a DC quality control inspection that took a few weeks to get it rolling again.
I know they inspected it because there was marking in a grease pencil with a date inside the doors, under the truck, in the engine bay and at the rear diff.
They went to the effort of pulling all the door panels to inspect there too.

Apparently if they find an issue it gets fixed or replaced before the truck gets to the dealer.

Trucks built in Mexico that are headed for the east coast go by boat. Leave out of Port of Vera Cruz. I know they stop at Tampa and Baltimore. Don't know about other stops.
