Passenger Side wiper quit

I tried searching for this but every time I try to search it just sends me back to the main page without ever letting me search.

I was driving in the wonderful weather we are having here this morning (snow/sleet/freezing rain) and out of the blue my passenger side wiper just quits, I assume the linkage came apart. I am going to tear into this later when weather permits, but I am wondering if anyone else has this same problem. The driver side wiper still works just as normal but the passenger side one is just loose to move up and down by hand only. When it quit I got out and moved it , and it even had a little play up and down in the assembly where the drivers side wiper arm did not. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it? I found at least one other post about this elsewhere but no one answered, so I am hoping for some input, before I just tear into it and have to figure it out.

Here is a diagram of the wiper assembly.

Thanks for the diagram, I didn't get a chance to pull it apart today, with the snow/rain and cold all day. Hopefully I can get it apart and fixed, I noticed when I was taking my wife back to work I heard an occasional pop/click from in the cowl area like the linkage has fallen off and is banging around in there, but it would not do it all the time.

Well I got everything apart and fixed it, I am not really pleased with how it is made in there and I am worried it will just fall off again. The connecting linkage just snaps together and it is not even a very tight fit. The connections between the linkage are all ball sockets that just snap together, I greased the inside of them hoping the reducing friction inside of it will help reduce stress and hopefully keep it together.

If it comes apart again, I will make something better to fix the problem.

Hope it works for ya - wire ties usually help.

If it falls off again, I will make new linkage using heim joints and bolts in place of those ball joints for the heim joints to attach to.
