Paint

Just picked up my new 05 dually, and have a quick question the paint around the rear fenders. I noticed today that where the fender and the body meet the paint is rubbing with only 500 miles on it. Anyone else notice this on theres? I've already chip the heck out of the lower part of the fender due to not having mud flaps or running boards yet. It seems like the paint is not very durable.

Welcome to the forum.

Yup I had the fender rubbing on the paint problem. They took the fenders off and installed two sided tape on it but while it is better it still rubs. Really shows on black. Get the boards and flaps on real quick.

You might want to fill in your signature so folks know what you are running.

I looked at getting my rockers linex'd but it's costly especially for a good job that wraps the doors (so edge of doors don't chip. I ended up getting mopar mud flaps. I only had time before last trip to put on the rear ones. I did some wheeling in mud. What a difference. Behind the rear wheels was clean, the side of the truck behind the front tires was a mud fest. Some rock chips too. I quickly put on the front flaps after that.

so far i haven't had any trouble with the fenders rubbing (insert crossed fingers here) and the paint on this truck is much better than the paint that was on my 03. haven't got one chip in the paint yet. 4500 miles so far.

My paint is chipped and scratched all over the truck. I guess it is due to the rough winter we had and all the sand/gravel on the roads. Bought the truck on 8/04 and now has 8000 miles on it.

New regs. on the paint that is in use today. It isnt as durable as it used to be. I've got a black truck and after closing my doors every time I exit the truck the paint is starting to fade on the edge. Wax on, wax off.
