I get the -40° reading on my 06 every so often. After driving for a few minuets it corrects itself.

That happened to me last year...I had it plugged in all night because I had to make a run to town the next day...Got ready to go so fired it up to warm up a bit...headed to town an noticed the gauge said -40...I thought nice its warming up a bit...but a few miles down the road I realized that I was wrong when the gauge at the bank said -58. the heat from the engine threw it off...

Same here. It seems that when snow gets packed up under the hood it screws with the sensor.

YES, this is a known issue with the 06 trucks. There is a TSB that corrects this and its part of the same TSB that corrects for the interior lights shutting off after 10-15 seconds with the door open, which you may also be experiencing.
With that being said, some have reported that they can un-hook both batteries for 1 hour or so and it will fix the interior lighting issue, not sure if it corrects the overhead display issue. Might be worth a try.

I get the same, but usually in the summer when it is 115 degrees out. I guess I should've complained sooner and gotten it fixed under the TSB.

I had the same issue-and took it to the dealer.

They reflashed it & all is well. Simple fix. There is nothing wrong with the sensors-just the programming.
