....this is the JTEC. If memory serves me from way back then, it's located on 03's on the passenger side back behind the air filter housing. Kind of toward the hood hinge.

ECM is on the side of the block as a fyi...

03s are NOT capable of the ramp up high idle via the cruise switch's.Whole differant setup then 04.5 up.All 3rd gens have the AUTO high idle when cold from the time they were built.Use a stick against the seat and fuel pedal or buy I think a BD high idle feature(Like $400) or try to rig a pull/lock fuel choke cable you can buy at rural auto parts stores(used on tractors and such, pull and twist to lock) I bought one fooled with trying to figure out a install and never went back to fooling with it.

Another easy way to tell if you can have the Cruise high idle, is to look on the passenger side fender for the vacuum pump motor. A little electric motor that runs the vacuum for the cruise. If you have this = no cruise high idle. May be easier than looking for the JTEC like Jbody said. Same difference though. If you have one, you'll have the other.

That actual time thing won't work..............You would end up paying more for a minimum wage worker vs a well qualified tech doing the same job.
I work 8 bays myself right now and run rings around the younger generation that should have a lot more energy

How a business pays its employees or the amount, is really no bodys business.Ask a surgeon what kind of flat rate he's on.

agreed, but (example) they told me (say it is an 04 and up) it would take a 1/2 hour to enable the high idle. they would charge me for that 1/2 hour shop time, which I am not a tech, but their techs must move like your younger techs. what I was refering to was they have a protocol for each job and how long it takes, I guess the slowest tech??? a good tech, such as yourself Bob, can probably do most jobs in half the time was all that I was saying. came out wrong I suppose. But........ I guess that is why good techs make more money than slow techs.

I all for people making money, at times you have to question certain services that we buy. I think anybody can attest to that.

True. but it still doesn't make it right, I will leave it at that, cause it is bordering being moved to the political site.

So I am the retard and the dealership was right!!!! It was sarcasm and I was trying to get the TRUTH from the DTR guys and gals, not the dealer,, which we all know they are always right and trustworthy.

Thanks for educating me, that is what this site is intended for. carry on.

Press the on button and then press and hold the set button until the RPM goes up. and use the accel button to go up and up in RPM. I don't think the e-brake needs to be on just P or N

Make sure you are not stepping on the brake. That will disengage it. Set the E-brake and put the truck into N, to keep the tranny pushing fluid.

Ive always heard that high idle doesnt work on 03s, but if it can then hopefully mine is one that it would work on...Ill have to check.

And the e-brake doesnt need to be on, not on mine atleast. Turn on cruise, tap "set" twice and itll jump up to 1100, then use the accel/decel buttons to adjust it up or down...

...before you get four different versions....from four different model year owners. The 04 required a flash to be down loaded and THEN you could enable it with the DRB. That was a step that was often missed when performing this. Somewhere around late 04 up you could simply go in with the scan tool and "enable" it. E brake is not an input.

Dealer flashed my 04, but forgot to enable the feature. I was too dumb to cheak it before I left the dealership. Had to make a second trip to enable it. Dealership was unaware that the feature existed until I informed them of it. I do live in a hot climate. Of course they swear the Fass will not work on a Cummins either.
