OK.. I'M A RETARD.. according to dealer

So I had the lift pump (fuel pump, transfer pump) whatever those DAs want to call it. So I wanted to have my high idle enabled. they.....................

said it is not possible on a 03..... really.... so I take the genos (printed) TSB into them and they show me the DC site and show nothing, except for 04 and up. what can I say, I argued till my face eas blue, nothing........... their tech had an 03 and could not enable it,,,,,,,,,what? Am I a complete idiot, apparently I am a DA just like them.

They said they have seen the Genos TSBs before and some are valid, while others are not, what gives.....?

Also I decided to quiz them, since I am new to the area about programmers and such... they said they have no problems with them (in fact sell them) as long....................as they do not create the problem... but they have to PROVE that was the cause, I thought that was pretty stand up,.......but I would not like to go in there with a problem with aaaaaaaah mod and say fix it. just me but maybe they are cool.

PS.... PLZ provide me with info to convince these dill WADS that it can be done (high idle)

You CAN enable high idle, but on an 03 it doesn't work with the cruise buttons. Mine will only work when it is below 32 and idling for like 5 minutes.

If you went in with the tact your post has they probably have a valid point. While I can understand you having a rant, a post of this nature simply degrades this forum as a whole.

...and VZ is correct. No manual idle with your archaic 03, just the "it's coldernhell and I'll cancel three cylinders and up the idle when I want to" option.

I am so glad you think that this is a rant with my archaic 03. I have never heard of this not being an option with my 03, with the info I have researched. I guess I am the idiot and the cake is on my face,,,,,,I am sorry for being the degradation of this forum. I will just talk to my fellow IDBF members from now now on.

Cheers~

According to the Dodge Ram TSB site (http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003-index.htm)
that TSB is not listed for the 03 model year truck. So the Dealer is correct in that statement. However, if you read your copy of the (TSB 18-004-04) it states,
"NOTE: This bulletin applies to DR vehicles equipped with a 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine (sales code ETC or ETH) and an automatic transmission, with an engine serial number 57130284 or earlier (Figure 1); and the engine date of manufacture on or before December 10, 2003."
Meaning if your engine data plate matches the critieria above then the flash should work. However, I think some people tend to forget the e-brake must be enable for the cruise control to activate the high idle.

Try a different dealer. And ask them to show you what your engine data plate information saids, if they believe the same way as the first dealer.

Thx Shawn,, that was my argument EXACTLY. Mine matches that criteria.. they also forget that you have to select a different menu option for the 03s and lower (according to the TSB) to enable it.. I just need to find

Shane with a smarty!!!!!!!! someday, it really isn't a huge deal but apparently one thinks I am disparging the forum with my post.... but everybody has their humble cpu opinion sory for such a useless post.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..J/K Rusty wouldn't be sorry

.....easy way to skip the data plate stuff. Does your truck have a single ECM, or the ECM and JTEC controller. JTEC will be over behind the air filter tucked up on the side of the fenderwell. There was no idle with cruise switches until they went with the single controller. Your's will be like I mentioned above....same as my "ancient" 01.

*and I still think it's comments like your begining statement that drives techs away from a forum like this.

J--- I would not post if I had a tech that checked for a single ECM, JTEC controller. I post for guys that may have had a simliar experience and may have some insight as to how to approach this situation. I have no knowledge of how to check or what to look for.

I have no trust in "dealers",,,not techs (they get the job done). they (service writers) say it takes such and such time to perform a task, which is a fleece, it should be how long it "actually" takes the job to be done.

Not tryin to drive you away. I respect your opinion, not your sarcasm cause you know more than me. this is a forum and I posted my experience looking for advice, maybe =you are offended by my post..., but I am tryin to get the truth, I am not asking a service writer (I never got to talk to the tech) I am asking others that may have had a simliar experience, hence that is why I posted on this site.

cheers, big sip of Blue Moon, kill a bigun
