I hear alot of peole runnin the 295 70s and 285s but never hear much about the 305 70s which actually have the infamous E on them too nice size tire by spec anyone got them? most 305s or 33s are really squatty cause the are a 65 series but these being 70s got some heighth
Hate mine. Easily the worst tire I've ever run as far as life expectancy. I just turned 11,000 miles on them and I'll measure tommorow, but I'd say they have 7 or 8 32nds left. IIRC they started with 19/32. I drive like a grandpa,no burnouts, high speed cornering, etc.
A month or two ago I figured I'd be lucky to make 20K. Now I'm hoping to make 15,000-16,000.
On the bright side, they do have pretty darn good traction. I'd give them an A for wet/snow/LIGHT mud traction. Durability is low,I'd give them a D. I've already had one tire replaced from a puncture and two others had flats that were repairable. Tread life is an F.
Definately not worth almost $1000 for the set.
P.S. mine are 285/70/17 LR E

Boy, you're pretty bitter about them. I used to hate em too, but I'm about to reach 20,000 miles on this set and they aren't gonna look so bad after all. Looks like I can get another 10-15k out of them. Some ppl just have better luck. I will say that when It DOES come time for new rubbers I won't be going with the Nittos again.

While I know we're talking about the same tire, per se, everyone is still comparing apples to oranges. Sorry, but I don't believe a 50, 55 or 60 series tire is going to have the same wear characteristics as the 305/70. Especially since those low profile tires are on non-OEM wheels where the backspace and offset usually don't closely resemble stock. This puts weight and other forces in different areas of the tire and stresses the suspension in other areas than with OEM wheels/tires. I bet the lower profiles ride hotter as well and extra heat usually isn't a tire's friend.
The results from one Terra Grappler doesn't necessarily equate to similar results from another. You have to look at the big picture and consider all circumstances surrounding good or bad wear and performance. PSI, driver habits, terrain/roads/loads and overall conditions imposed on the tire.
FWIW.

I've got the Terra's in 285/17. About 15,000 miles so far. Should easily get another 15-20,000 more which is great considering how sticky they are. Mine are load range E. I run em' all at 70psi. I like em'.
I dont have a clue on how long they will last but if they stick well then they will wear quick. Also desiels are hard on rear tires.
I sure didn't pay $1,000 for mine.I think it was under $800 and I have the 305 70 17 E.
I love them.Like I said smooth, quiet and fit perfect on stock wheels and dont take too much from my towing performance.
Time will tell how long mine will last but right now I dont care.

i have the 305 70 as well, had em siped and LOVE them. my girlfriend lives 210 miles away over three snow covered passes. i was really impressed with the snow and ice performance. i used always run bfg all-terrains but got sick of payin for them and they never really lasted as long as they claimed to.
i drive somewhat aggressively but rotate regularly. i have put 3200 miles on them in one month and they look really good. one trip in real deep snow for the x-mas tree they did great, better than other trucks with chains, i was breakin new snow. where the guys with chains turned around.
anyway like em

I love mine. This is my second set on two different trucks and had great luck. I just got back from a 2500 mile run to Ludington, MI and they did great on the road in snow and ice. 16,000 miles on them and they are only about 25-30% worn...and I run hard with a fire department and tow 8-10,000 pound trailers. I wouldn't give a dime for BFG after three bad sets on three different trucks. BFG's took >6oz to balance, but still had a shake. Nitto's took <3oz and are smooth. My last set was the same, but were 39.5's on a lifted 7.3.
I'm w/ SundayMoney all the way. Barely got 20k out of mine and had two plugs and a patch in them. I don't haul much, rotate religiously and don't drive aggressively at all. By far the worst tire that I have ever owned (except for the traction).
